SAGE Spotlight Program®!
The
SAGE Spotlight Program®! uses color-coded signs
and menus to teach students about the nutritional
value of food and to guide them through the process of
choosing a complete and balanced
meal.
Our registered dietitians
have reviewed and approved each menu to ensure that each meal meets
SAGE's high standards. To reflect this, a spotlight dot
color is assigned to each menu item, providing a road map to
building a healthy meal.
Green spotlight foods are
highly nutritious and should be enjoyed often. These
include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and low-fat dairy
products. Students are encouraged to eat a variety of
green spotlight foods for added color and
nutrients.
Yellow spotlight foods
make up the bulk of a healthy diet. These foods have important
vitamins and minerals. Students should
balance their yellow spotlight choices with plenty of
green spotlight foods.
Red
spotlight foods contain nutrients students don't need
much of, like sodium. Students should keep an eye on
portion size and practice moderation by eating red
spotlight foods only a few times each
week.
