Sous Chef ~ Private School ~ Scratch Meals!

SAGE Dining Services® is seeking an experienced Chef to join our management team at a gorgeous private boarding/day school in Boca Raton, FL.  Your role is Sous Chef, on a team of four professional managers, under the supervision of a General Manager.  At SAGE, we are known for creating exceptional dining experiences. We write innovative recipes that reflect diverse regional and international cuisines; we use the freshest, highest-quality ingredients on the market; and we cook from scratch in small batches.

What you will do:
  • Purchase food and supplies from approved vendors
  • Monitor inventory
  • Develop menus for day to day operations and catering events
  • Ensure that the kitchen and surrounding areas are sanitized and clean
  • Hire, train and supervise kitchen team
  • Stay current on restaurant industry trends and culinary techniques
  • Assist kitchen staff with food prep and recipe creation
  • Manage food and labor costs weekly/monthly
  • Manage all food storage areas
  • Interact with clients and students daily
What you need:
  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior kitchen position
  • Experience in high volume food production for daily meals and catering events
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current restaurant industry trends
  • Culinary creativity as well as solid culinary skills
  • Ability to provide direction, mentoring and supervision to the staff
  • High degree of ownership in your leadership role
  • "Hands on" leader mentality
  • Must understand and have experience managing all restaurant P&L items
  • Ability to create menus and execute with your team
  • Proven ability to inspire the team and contribute to a POSITIVE environment
  • Ability to process information and make decisions while busy
  • Ability to manage a large inventory and place multiple daily/weekly orders
  • Ability to interact daily with clients and students in a professional, positive manner
  • Culinary degree is preferred
  • Experience working in high volume arenas such as Country clubs or hotels is preferred
