Staying Hydrated

Nutrition

Spring is here, bringing warmer weather, more time outdoors, and a great reminder to pay attention to hydration. Our bodies rely on water for almost everything—from transporting nutrients to supporting brain function and keeping muscles working properly. Hydration plays a role in nearly every system in the body, making it an essential part of feeling and performing your best each day.

One of the simplest ways to stay hydrated is also the most effective: drinking water consistently throughout the day. Keeping a reusable water bottle nearby can serve as an easy visual reminder to sip regularly. Small, steady habits like this can make a big difference.

There’s also a lot of buzz around electrolytes, but they’re often misunderstood. For most day-to-day activities, water alone is enough to meet your hydration needs. Electrolytes become more important during endurance activity lasting longer than an hour or when exercising in hot or humid conditions. In those situations, they can help replenish what your body loses through sweat, but they aren’t necessary for the average day.

As you enjoy the spring season, think of hydration as a simple, supportive habit. With regular water intake and a better understanding of when extra support, like electrolytes, is needed, you can keep your body feeling its best.
